Introduction:
The ValleyDAO Easter Egg Hunt is a gamified governance proposal that aims to help community members explore Discourse and familiarise themselves with the formal governance process.
The proposal will take place in three phases and will involve hidden easter eggs that can be discovered by DAO members. The easter eggs will be small, fun surprises hidden throughout the proposal phases that encourage active engagement with the ValleyDAO community and governance process.
Rules:
First thing’s first… you must register for Discourse. Once you’ve done that, there are then 3 challenges that make up the easter egg hunt. When you have all 3 answers, please comment on this proposal with your answers in the following format:
- Answer 1
- Answer 2
- Answer 3
Everyone that provides the correct answer to all three challenges will receive an exclusive NFT (ValleyDAO Elders)! It is crucial that you provide your Discord username so we can reach out to you to mint your prize.
Challenge 1:
The first challenge is to read through the ‘Easter Story’ and count the number of times the word ‘children’ is repeated. There is only one right answer to this question.
Challenge 2:
The second challenge is a little more challenging. It requires you to take the first letter of every word at the beginning of each sentence (in the ‘Easter Story’) and reconstruct the secret password. The password is two words. You will only be rewarded the point if you correctly reconstruct the two word password. No misspellings or synonyms will be accepted.
Challenge 3:
The third challenge is the hardest yet. It requires you to count the number of times each letter appears in the ‘Easter Story’ text and use it to construct a numeric string. The letters are:
“FIND THE TREASURE”
The password is a string of numbers that follows the order of characters in the phrase above.
For example, in the following text:
I want to feel at one with nature. Part of a larger whole where humans have accepted their place within it, and do not seek to disrupt that harmony any more. Finally, I want to feel free. I want the freedom to love, to live, to laugh, to create, to consume and to just exist.
F= 6
I= 12
N= 13
D= 4
T= 28
H= 11
E= 29
T= 28
R= 12
E= 29
A= 20
S= 6
U= 6
R= 12
E= 29
The numeric string and answer to the question is therefore: ‘61213428112928122920661229’.
WARNING ChatGPT does not work with this (we tried it ;)) so you’ll have to count manually. Good luck! The first 30 people to answer correctly will receive the limited edition NFT. Be wary of copying answers from other people - they may be wrong! Don’t miss out!

Easter Story:
Very far away in the small town of Easterbrook, the annual Easter egg hunt was the highlight of the year. All children in the town would gather in the park to participate in the hunt, but this year, the mayor had a surprise for them. Larry Baker, the mayor, had been interested in decentralised governance and decided to use the egg hunt as an experiment. Larry wanted to introduce a new method of organising the event, which would make it more inclusive and efficient.
Eventually, instead of hiding all the eggs in one place, the mayor had them scattered throughout the town. Yesterday, each child was given a unique map that led them to different locations where they would find eggs. Due to efficiency reasons, the mayor also introduced a new messaging platform, which the children could use to communicate and share hints.
At first, some of the older children were sceptical about the new system. Obviously, they were used to the old way of doing things and weren’t sure if they would like the changes. However, as the hunt progressed, they began to realise how much more enjoyable and fair it was. Uniquely this year, the younger children could find more eggs as they weren’t competing with the older ones, and everyone had a chance to participate fully.
Nevertheless, the hunt was a huge success, and the children found more eggs than ever before. The mayor was delighted with the outcome and decided to continue using this method of governing for other town initiatives. Ivan (the mayor’s Director of Decentralisation) was thrilled to see how the children worked together, and the level of collaboration and inclusivity was unprecedented.
Now, the children enjoyed the new system, and they were excited to see what other changes the mayor had in store for the town. Governance done in this way had not only made the egg hunt more efficient but had also created a sense of community spirit and unity in the town.
